Visit the New Zealand location sites used to create "The Lord of the Rings" movies, and replicate Middle Earth. Landscapes as described by J R R Tolkien and used by New Line Cinema and Three Foot Six Films. Take an unbelievably beautiful journey through our Middle Earth - from Queenstown New Zealand. RINGS TRILOGY TRAIL TOURSGlenorchy Air offers both ground and air tours to the various location sites here in the South Island of New Zealand. These include the locations used to represent Lothlorien, Amon Hen, Nen Hithoel, Amon Lhaw, Path Galen, Ford of Bruinen, The Pillars of the King on the River Anduin, and the site of Gandalf's ride to Isengard. Several Trilogy Trail Tours are available, but on request we can also include other location sites. Just ask us!

Allow 7 hours with 2.5 hours flight time. Morning departure 9.00am. Includes lunch. By air, see the locations for the river Anduin, Ford of Bruinen, the Rohan camp at Dunharrow and Nen Hithoel, where Frodo saved Sam from drowning. Included is a landing at the location of Lothlorien, the battle of Amon Hen, where Boromir is struck down, Fangorn Forest and Saruman’s Tower at Isengard. Our land tour showcases the beautiful Wakatipu basin. Travel in comfortable four-wheel drive air-conditioned vehicles, which stop for you to walk and see the locations. Option 1 You will visit the River Anduin – Pillars of the King, Ford of Bruinen, Gladden Fields and the Ithilien Camp where the Oliphants go past. As well as the views from Bennetts Bluff towards the locations of Isengard and lothlorien.Click here for more detailed information about this tour (will open in new window). Option 2 Head up along the Glenorchy Road past the Amon Hen location, and stopping at Ithilien. Stop at Rat Point to see the Dart Glacier on Mount Earnslaw and continue up the Glenorchy Road. Over the other side of the lake is the Greenstone valley, the location for Dunharrow where Aragorn raised his army. Past Glenorchy is Paradise, Location for Lothlorien, Isengard, and the location of Gandalf's ride to Isengard. Paradise is also the location for part of the Battle of Amon Hen. Allow 3.5 hours.
